What Is An Affiliate, Please? |
by:

An Affiliate is usually a website owner, eager to showcase someone else's product/service on a no-risk partnership agreement in order to earn a commission based on a percentage of every sale generated through best efforts of the affiliate website.
I did say, "usually a website owner", because there are firms out there who will supply a website "Free of charge", with all their products listed for sale. Upon joining you are then are required to market your Free website in a manner that will get it seen
by as many people as possible in order to generate sales from that site.
Whichever way you chose to join as an affiliate, each system allows a company to gain the maximum exposure possible for their product through website Affiliates located around the world, without having to pay upfront advertising costs. The money saved on advertising fees is turned over into a generous commission structure for the Affiliates.
It's a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Becoming an Affiliate is by far the easiest, least expensive, and most rewarding way to start an Internet Business.
Easy because you will be promoting someone else's product and earning money on sales generated from your website.
As an Affiliate there is no inventory to secure. There are no employees to hire because you are able to handle everything yourself. Don't even think about packing and shipping, it is the responsibility of the company.
Best of all, there are no customer complaints to sort through, they go directly to the company.
An Affiliate will also not have to worry about collecting the customer's money, once again that will all be done by the company you have partnered with, who with specialized computer software will be immedately alerted when a customer from your website has purchased a product.
Your only job as an affiliate is to promote-promote-promote, get the product information out to as many people as possible in a way that will encourage them to buy the product you are showcasing on your website.
The Affiliate's next biggest chore is to wait for that commission check to arrive each and every month.
There's virtually no out of pocket expenses on the Affiliate's part whatsoever, aside for the cost of a website, but even that cost need not exceed a yearly investment of $100 for a website of your own. You do not need something overly elaborate, just functional.
If money is a very real problem, then Blog it. The last time I looked the majority of them are still free, but in all fairness, you probably wouldn't try to promote a diamond ring on a Blog, but you would a good book.
Having your Own Website to learn and grow with the products you choose to market online, is the preferred method.
There are some products that come fully equipped with their own ready-made website to go, as soon as you sign up. I highly recommend this approach to first timers looking at joining the Affiliate ranks. The website is setup to market the product, and will have your name or number encoded into the file to record all sales attributed to your webpage.
Legitimate Affiliate programs do not charge to join their program. They are more honoured that you think highly enough about their product to allow it on your website, and they are happiest when sending out monthly checks for your efforts.
Avoid any Affiliate program which requires an upfront fee to join their team. Legitimate Affiliate Programs are just to happy to have you join their team in order to promote their product, and they supply all the necessary tools you will need like banners, text ads, box ads, and anything else to help you sell their product.
Owning a website means you have more control over the products or services you wish to be associated with to promote. You can be more selective; only promote what you feel comfortable with; only promote the highest commissioned products; only promote those with the best guarantees.
The choice is yours alone to make.
There are some Affiliates earning in excess of $1,000,000 a year, so we know it can be done, but the majority make from
a few hundred dollars a month to a few thousand which can certainly help pay some of those bills. Like anything else in the world, it's how hard and how smart you want to work it, while building a customer list that will eventually determine your success.
An Affiliate can earn money in two ways, the first is from direct sales of the product(s), and secondly
from other people becoming Affiliates under them and thereby receiving a percentage of their sales.
Through a code embedded in your website by the company whose products you are promoting, details of the sale
are immediately made known to them so your website instantly gets credited with the sale, and a regular monthy sales statement will be emailed to you detailing your earnings.
Many people feel much more comfortable being an affiliate than if they were a salesperson where they might have to communicate directly with the customers. There are never any direct person-to-person or telephone conversations required of an affiliate to make, and no sales pitch to give.
An affiliate remains in the background totally anonymous, forever, while the website continually sells the product 24/7, even while the affiliate is sleeping.
And in the larger picture, this background anonymity becomes an even stronger reason for some people to join an affiliate program; discrimination of age, race, creed, color, physical limitations, male or female is virtually unheard of in the affiliate industry, and the reasoning behind it is quite simple.
Absent face-to-face communications with the customer, there are no personal observations, determinations, prejudices a customer can make about an affiliate.
This is probably the only world wide industry of its kind where we are all finally equal to one another and no better than the next person. Shut-ins, introverts, and hermits are perfect for this business.
An important point you probably hadn't considered, did you?
Frankly, it doesn't get any better than that.
And, lastly, for those of you who think you may not have the ability, or are a bit timid about venturing into unknown waters, I would like you to consider this:
The Ark was built by an amateur, the Titanic by professional engineers.
Good Luck and thank you for your time.
