Affiliate Marketing has become one of the Most Cost-Effective Productive Ways to Advertise a small or large Business.
If you are unfamiliar with Affiliate marketing programs from a company point of view, then I hope this will give you a small overview of why they have become so popular with businesses around the world.
AM (affiliate marketing) is a form of advertising unique to the Internet. In fact it was Amazon.com who first popularized the concept of AM, and was a big reason for Amazon's remarkable success.
In simple terms, AM rewards affiliates for driving purchasing traffic to the advertising business. The advertiser pays a commission to a website owner carrying its link that results in a customer purchase.
AM can have its ups and downs, but so can any other business concept out there today. The immediate difference being that there is no huge business rental property to worry about carrying during the slow periods.
If you are serious about AM as an effective marketing tool, then it is imperative to first become fully acquainted with what makes AM work, and what does not.
Generally, these are some of the reasons businesses have become very successful utilizing AM techniques.
- Low Cost Startup:
It's not hard to locate affiliates throughout the Internet, by just adding an "Affiliate" link button on your website. Search engines will pick up on the link, and drive traffic to your site as a result. If your product is digitized, then a good bet would be to sell through Clickbank with a membership of affiliates listed in the thousands, and all ready to go.
The best part with using Clickbank, is they handle the whole commission structure, and pay the affiliates so you don't have to.
- No Hiring of Sales Staff:
Businesses who have historically needed a sales team, and have had to suffer through the training, motivating, and monitoring of sales staff, view AM as the most innovative sales tool ever to carry them into this Century.
They now only pay commissions on products sold, and do not worry how or what their sales staff are doing in the marketplace. There are no longer any sales personnel headaches to deal with, and more importantly, they are witnessing higher sales records as a result of AM.
- Digitized Sales and Training Tools:
All sales tools made available to affiliates, are located on the company website where affiliates can log in and download anything they need along with first-class support, quality sales and training tools in the form of sales letters, eBooks, eCatalogs, banners of varying sizes and shapes.
Affiliates must also be able to immediately access their account, and from there check their sales progress, earnings, and inquire about any other support they may deem necessary to help promote a company's products.
- Affiliate Forum On Site:
Today's onsite Forum replaces the in-house sales training sessions some companies may have had for the sales staff. Today, companies provide forums to give their affiliates a chance to meet and discuss the company's products with others from around globe. This helps the company as affiliates learn new and better ways to sell the products, and this also helps new affiliates just coming on board to get off on the right foot with the products.
- Listen To Feedback:
A forum allows a company to find out first hand where problems with their products may be developing, and thereby enable them to react immediately to clean-up those areas, especially where affiliates may have voiced their concerns.
The company must continually listen to their affiliates concerns, and make needed tweaks and adjustments if they wish to evolve into something bigger than they are.
- eNewsletter:
Smart companies regularly send out eNewsletters to all their affiliates to keep in touch. This is an inexpensive but effective way to show the company appreciates the efforts of their affiliates. It is the perfect venue to showcase updates on new products, price changes, and possible sales which may be coming.
When handled in a very business-like, but personable manner, eNewsletters can reap solid dividends in the end. Just remember to write any eNewsletter in plain, easy-to-understand language, and leave out the business gobblygook for the financial pages of the local newspaper.
- Product Guarantee:
Any company is only as good as the product guarantee it offers and stands behind. We all know there are product guarantees or warranties out there, not worth the computer paper they are printed on. Don't be one of those companies.
A good product guarantee is one a company honors 100 percent with the customer, no questions asked. When a company shows confidence in their product with a worthwhile guarantee, the affiliates will gain a healthy respect for that company and its products, comfortable with the knowledge their customers are protected and will be treated respectfully the moment a problem occurs.
- Finally, and Most Importantly:
When a person goes out and works for a living at a regular job, they do so knowing that come payday a check will be there waiting for them, on time, correctly calculated, and ready for immediate deposit into their bank.
If your company is to succeed with a global team of affiliates working around the clock, then the next biggest priority will be to insure above all else that commissions are paid on time, calculated correctly the first time, and that all transactions are verified in the affiliate's account to show everything has been honestly, faithfully, and correctly administered.
Adding affiliates to your sales team sends a strong message your company is prepared to enter the Global market.
While tangible products are sold on the Internet, by far the simplest and easiest product sold through the Internet is a digital product. Digital products can instantly be downloaded to the customer the moment payment is verified through a credit card or PayPal.
Digital products offer no mess, no stress, no hassles.
Whatever path you choose, good luck and much success.
