Why Are Affiliate Programs
So Popular?

The reasons are many and varied, not the least of which is the abundance of excellent programs throughout the Web readily available to anyone with access to a computer.

The Affiliate industry is witnessing the fastest growth of any program on the Internet.

Merchants, the smart ones anyway, have not been happier since the Affiliate marketing schemes have gained in popularity, and with good reason. Getting Affiliates to promote their products online is a convenient, cost-effective method for generating sales on a global scale.

No longer having to concern themselves with the hiring, firing, training, hand-holding, and diaper changing members of a sales team, the merchants feel as if they have won a lottery.

A Merchant's obligation to an Affiliate is to provide readily available custom made banners for website display purposes, along with appealing text ads, and a professionally generated sales letter tailor-made for their product.

Oh, and let us not forget a Merchant's biggest and most important obligation to their Affiliates, getting those monthly commission checks out on a timely basis.
The Affiliate program is a dream come through for Merchants, and is predicated on the law of averages driving their success, that the more Affiliates a Merchant can encourage to their program, the more sales that are likely to occur. When a Merchant becomes too picky about who they want as an Affiliate, is when they are most likely to shut out those people who may have contributed the most to their sales success.

But a Merchant should never discount those Affiliates who are doing little to no business because chances are the Merchant's name and product are still getting air time somewhere in the world by all of their Affiliates. Even an Affiliate who may not have contributed to the sales count today, may still contribute in another ways by exposing the Merchant's product to a market that conceivably could turn into a sale tomorrow, next week, or next month.

What about the poor Affiliate, what benefits do they derive from all their hard work and efforts?

The Affiliate benefits are tenfold: Low cost entry point to get started, Affiliate programs are free. Extra or Full-time income. Working from home. No face-to-face selling. No inventory to buy. No shipping costs to worry about. No money to collect. Work only when they want. They are their own boss. Once a program is set up and running, it will continue to promote itself uninterrupted 24/7 on the Internet without the Affiliate having to constantly monitor it.

And the number one reason I personally feel Affiliate careers have blossomed so quickly, and have become so popular: There are no Restrictions to age, race, creed, gender, disabilities, reclusiveness, or education to becoming an Affiliate, because unless you make your personal life known to the public, the customer has no idea who you are, where you're from, your nationality, your religious beliefs, or anything else about you, and quite frankly, they really don't care to know.

The Customer wants one thing, the product they just purchased as a result of your fantastic effort for having gotten the information to them in the first place. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.

I firmly believe the lack of restrictions to becoming an Affiliate has helped to make the Internet the only truly legitimate Equal Opportunity Employer in the world where everyone, no matter what country they are from, no matter what their circumstances may be, are all given equal opportunities to succeed as a result of the Affiliate anonymity that occurs, which would appear to be an unexpected equalizer of the masses.

If your intentions on becoming an Affiliate are serious, please note that not all Affiliate program models are made to suit all Affiliates.

Look for an Affiliate program you can feel comfortable promoting, a program you may have some familiarity with or a little knowledge about to help increase your chances of success. Work with what is best suited to your knowledge base, and experience, and resist the temptation some of us have already experienced and overcome, thinking we could handle a multitude of different Affiliate programs at one time. It is much better to become strong in one area first, and then branch out to other programs only after you feel comfortably secure that your first Affiliate program is self-generating and providing a good income.

The bottom line, make sure you suit the marketing model to the content of your site and your overall business goals, and that you like the product.

Good luck on your newest venture if you decide to come aboard, and be sure to have some fun along the way, it's an experience you don't want to miss.
