Here are the most common mistakes to avoid when writing web copy, eBooks, or Articles.
We've all been there, mostly through laziness, bad habits,
and not rereading our finished work when we think they're ready to go.
Two of the most glaring mistakes we all make because of bad habits, not performing an
automatic spell check on everything we do, and then not getting someone else to reread
our work, or worse yet not going over it again, and again ourselves.
Here then are the most common errors to avoid.
Altogether/All together
"Altogether" is an adverb meaning "in sum, in all, all told".
Altogether three men were missing from two different boats. meaning "all told"

"All together" is an adverbial expression meaning "unity - the same place at the same time".
The children were huddled all together around the fireplace. - "same place, same time"
Your/You're
"Your" is a possessive pronoun - "your briefcase" and "your headache".
Your pencil needs sharpening.

"You're" is a contraction that stands for - "you are".
You're never going to win that way.
Past/Passed
"Past" is a noun meaning "bygone time".
In the past milk was delivered in bottles.
"Past" is a preposition meaning "beyond".
She went past his car without seeing him.
"Past" is an adjective meaning "former".
Mike's past achievements make him stand out from the rest.

Awhile/A while
"Awhile" is an adverb.
I waited for awhile before leaving.

They go there quite often.
"There" used as a noun.
They lived over there.

Effect/Affect
"Effect" is a noun and is the result or consequence of an action.
