Finding The Perfect Home Based
Internet Business

by: Shayne Genoway © Copyright 2006

During times of record breaking gas prices, spiralling utility bills and even rising food costs, people are concerned that their salaries are not keeping up with all these out of control increases.

Rising fears of not being able to cope are forcing people to look at alternative measures to earn extra cash to support their families.

Some people are turning to the Internet hoping to find the secret of the perfect Home Based Business as their means of escaping escalating, runaway, monthly bills.

The Internet steadfastly remains the largest unchartered area where you can still genuinely start with less than $100 in your pocket, and build a profitable new Home Based Business opportunity that could forever free you from your financial woes.

Unfortunately, you will quickly realize most of the get rich quick schemes offered online today, are no better than those old-fashioned classified ads we used to see plastered throughout the back pages of certain gossip tabloids.

You know what I'm talking about, the promises of overnight riches: "How To Become A Millionaire Overnight, No Selling Involved, only $29.95. Send cash, check, or money order today."

If life was that simple, we'd all be millionaires today.

So if you are giving some thought to starting a business on the Internet, just remember that "buyer beware" is just as true today, as it ever was, when falling for the allure of some of those get rich schemes.

Starting a new business isn't always what it's cracked up to be, either. The first thing is to figure out what you can do; what you are good at doing; what special skills, life experiences, expertise or knowledge you possess which will help to make your business a success.

Knowing ahead of time what business will suit your talents, should make the process a whole lot less difficult when starting out. It isn't enough that you want to start a business, you must also know what you are bringing to the table to build a business on.

You have to look inward to those strengths and talents which are so necessary to expand your chances of survival. You also must be brutally honest with yourself and consider your weaknesses as well, thereby determining the areas of business you may wish to avoid or strengthen.

For instance, wanting to start a delivery service would never work if you didn't know how to drive a car. If bookkeeping is not one of your stronger talents, then prepare to hire a bookkeeper to handle all your record keeping and yearly taxes. And you would not get into the florist business if all your life you worked as a butcher.

Some deep soul searching is a prerequisite to starting any business.

That is what makes starting a business on the Internet so perfect. You don't need a lot of money to start, and you can begin on a part-time basis. That's essential to allow you to continue working your regular job, while you slowly and methodically build the business to the point where you would be forced to quit your day job.

So, once again then; what hobbies, skills learned, training obtained, courses taken, work attitude, knowledge gained from life experiences, volunteering, parenting, helping someone on a project, even the job you presently work at, offer towards making up your mind about the business you want to get into.

Sometimes, it may not even be that obvious. It could be something you've taken for granted for a long long time, without realizing you possess this special skill for which people would pay a lot of money to learn from you.

Sharon lovingly baked healthy home made dog biscuits for her two show dogs every weekend. She determined very early in their lives that store bought biscuits were not a healthy source of treats. So she prepared her own home made doggy biscuits from simple, healthy, natural ingredients.

She must have done something right because her dogs refused to eat any other kind of treats not baked by Sharon. What an endorsement.

Quite often Sharon would get carried away and prepare a larger batch than her dogs could ever manage to eat on their own, and so she happily shared them with other dog lovers she frequently encountered on their daily walks, or at dog shows.

She would be the first to tell you she never considered baking doggy biscuits a hobby, heck, she didn't even think it counted as a particular skill of any kind. It was just something she happily did for the love of her dogs good health and well being.

It was only when other dog owners were going out of their way to place special orders for Sharon's famous home made doggy biscuits, did she suddenly recognize just how special her simple talent had become.

"They're doggy biscuits", she mused one day. "Doesn't everyone know how to bake doggy biscuits?" Apparently not, Sharon.

It didn't take long before a friend familiar with web marketing, convinced her to take her doggy biscuits on the Internet, an idea she found ridiculous at first. But he persisted and eventually convinced her to try it out.

Well, the rest is history, Sharon's healthy style doggy biscuits are now shipped daily to happy customers around the world. She marvels that people from as far away as Germany, and Hong Kong, and other places regularly place orders for the biscuits.

Her friend convinced her to write an eBook, and a campaign was soon launched on how to start a successful home based business baking doggy biscuits.

That eBook got Sharon an invitation to write a regular weekly column in a national pet magazine about healthy all-natural home made meals for dogs. The eBook and weekly column brought in even more business to the point where she had to expand to larger facilities, and now has a small plant employing 20-30 people.

Not bad for someone who thought of herself as not particularly skillful in anything.

The options available to promote your skills, service, product, or idea on the Internet include a website, eBook, newsletter, blog, and articles. One or all can be employed to market just about anything you want on the Internet.

The Internet is the last frontier where anyone can start a business with less than $100 in their pocket, and immediately reach a potential customer base of over a billion people around the globe.

Why not discover the joy of earning an income from a Home Based Internet Business of your own. The only obstacles to overcome, are the ones you place in front of yourself.

So, what skills or expertise do you possess?
