Considering the undeniable success and popularity of Home Based Internet Businesses, the short answer is, yes, but it certainly does require dedication and patience to make it work, something many people are not willing to commit to these days.
Let's face it prices are getting way out of control. It doesn't matter if it is gas for the car, food, home utilities, rent/mortgage or whatever, but somebody out there must think we are all made of money, how else can you explain prices rising so fast.
The question on most people's minds when they wake up every morning is, "How can I make more money to meet my monthly bill obligations?"
For most of us it means putting in extra hours at work, taking on part-time and after hour jobs we might otherwise have never considered before. Then there are those of us who think salvation can only be had with a business of our own.
We yearn to work for ourselves, be our own boss, set our own hours, come and go as we please, make enough to be comfortable with while being able to make sure all the bills are paid.
And, the notion of being able to work from our own home, well, that pretty much is the icing on the cake.
Statistics indicate more than fifty percent of all small businesses are the single proprietor kind, meaning many of those are probably Home Based.
But no one has yet been able to determine what percentage of home based small businesses are Internet related, but my own strong suspicion is that the numbers are high based on the ease and minimal initial costs to starting an Internet Business.
It is the perfect answer for anyone struggling to make ends meet, and yet will afford them a readily available opportunity to build something which may one day comfortably support them and their family.
In as short as 15 years the Internet has profoundly impacted our daily lives in many different ways, from how we view the world at large, get our daily news fix, source information, communicate around the globe, carry on business, and earn money.
As of this moment the Internet boasts a growth rate just above the 15 percent mark, which when calculated out means that Internet retail sales by the year 2010 will exceed the $100 Billion milestone. Folks, we are talking Billions here, and we are still only talking Online Retail Sales.
Based on those statistics then, it should not surprise you that Internet based businesses have grown in popularity to outshine the local brick and mortar shop for a number of reasons; firstly, start up costs are far more affordable, and secondly, the Online customer base is unmatched by anything else in the world.
Let me explain.
There was a time not so long ago that opening a new business meant you had to practically mortgage the home and sell the kids, and when you finally did open for business you had to rely on the immediate neighborhood as your major customer base to carry the business.
And if the neighbors didn't like you, what then?
Given a choice between the local neighborhood as my major customer base, or an Internet neighborhood numbering millions upon millions of customers world-wide, is a real no brainer.
And if that was not enough to convince you about starting an Online Business, then listen to this bit of news: The Internet does not discriminate against anyone wishing to start their own business.
I tell anyone who will listen to me that the Internet is the only truly bona fide equal opportunity employer on planet earth for two good reasons:
The Internet does not care if you happen to be some small mom and pop corner gift shop, or the latest and greatest Big Box Retail Store employing thousands of people. It makes no distinction between the two of you, and gives you an equal opportunity to go after the same customer base.
In the same vein, the Internet will also not discriminate against you either. When you open a business online your customers will not know if you are male, female, fat, skinny, pretty, homely, your race, religion, or political affiliation. Unless you make it publicly known that you are a squat, three eyed, little green Martian with a pitchfork tail, no one will know what you look like or even really care.
But I would hazard a guess that the real reason people are flocking to the Internet to start their Own Business, is the low Startup Costs or lack thereof in some instances.
You can start your own Home Based Internet Business with less than $100 in your pocket, and work it from home, part-time, spare-time, even into full time, working your own hours, being your own boss, and the moment you go online is the moment you will have instant access to an extended neighborhood customer base that spans the Globe.
Or start as an Affiliate, and in most cases there will not be any costs involved, except the cost of having your own website set up.
Getting back to the original question then: Can you get rich working online?
Yes, you can get rich working online, but it will only work, if you do.
